You would not have believed it was a Monday night the way people were packed into Space Ballroom to see two sibling acts, Infinity Song and The Burney Sisters.

Emma and Bella Burney opened up the evening. Their blend of folk, Americana, pop and rock was lush with soul-sweeping melodies and sublime guitar playing. Though teenagers, The Alabama-based Burney Sisters performed with such maturity and connected with the crowd so firmly, you would think they had been playing on stages for decades.

A standout was an unreleased song in which the sisters sing, “Where do I belong/ Where did I go wrong/ Tethered to the Earth/ How can I hold on?” Judging by the audience’s reaction, they need to release the song immediately. They also sweetly sang a song their mother used to sing to them when they were little: Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love.” They ended their performance with their EP’s title track, “Only Living,” a contemplative song about “living life/ how this life will allow.” Very thoughtful teenagers.

As the diverse, young crowd waited for New York City-based Infinity Song to take the stage, it was one big party. Everyone danced and sang in unison to an electric mix of Natasha Bedingfield, Tame Impala, Kelly Clarkson, and even The Stylistics. Whoever was playing the in-between-set music knew how to get the crowd revved up for the rocking set that was part of the Infinity Song’s second world tour.

Infinity’s sibling roster, Abraham, Momo, Angel and Israel Boyd, emerged amidst screams. They launched into their song “Lotus”: “You’re a lotus flower/ You make me weak/ Everything I see/ And I still want to eat/ And eat.” Afterwards, Abraham, the band’s frontman, gave us the rules: 1) Have a good time, 2) Have a good time, and 3) Have a good time. The audience obeyed.

Infinity Song’s cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” demonstrated why live shows are so necessary. On the album, the song is great; in person – transcendent. Every time you thought they were finished, the song would continue in almost spiritual frenzy. Their voices created a blend of harmonies so heavenly it would not have been surprising if they had started to levitate on that stage.

That spiritual feeling continued with “Pink Sky.” The lyric “Maybe I’ll be something special” became a clarion call as the crowd sang with fervor back and forth with the group. At one point, someone in the crowd got so comfortable, she started harmonizing beautifully with member Israel as he sang his solo. “Wow, you guys can really sing,” he said.

When it came time to perform their Doja Cat-approved hit “Hater’s Anthem,” Infinity Song looked triumphant as everyone sang along. Then, they had a requisite dance break as Abraham told the crowd, “For 30 seconds, dance like nobody’s watching.” They picked about eight people to come up on stage and show off their dance moves to an appreciative crowd.

“Connecticut, you have surprised me,” marveled Israel.

They went on to perform “Slow Burn” and “Sinking Boat,” which sounded like a hymn. That’s not a surprise for the group of siblings who grew up singing in the church with a choir director father. Their performance of the meditative song “Metamorphosis” was another otherworldly moment.

Band member Momo, who has been floating around social media for a while now, performed her hit “American Love Song,” singing with an intriguing drawl to the crowd. There was no sibling rivalry to be found as there were points throughout the show where each member got their chance to shine.

As the show came to a close and Infinity Song thanked fans and walked off the stage, they were still rocking out. Naturally, there were desperate calls for an encore. The brothers and sisters did not disappoint. They strutted back out and delivered a raucous performance of their summer release, “London Foxes.”

Then each member of Infinity Song jumped into the crowd, where they were quickly absorbed into a spectacle of frenetic movements as everyone let loose.
